50@36 Day 3: Still very much in the honeymoon phase of this project365, I was motivated to make some photos this morning while on the way to work. Then I walked out of the New York State Capital Building to see this, the New York State Education Department Building columns half lit by the most brilliant golden sunlight. The fantastic light was all over town, highlighting the divided sky partially showing dark gray storm-like clouds and a clear sliver of the western horizon.
This photo was difficult in that I couldn't get wide enough... there was so much more to this scene that I didn't capture because the lens I'm using for this project, a 50mm prime, isn't a zoom. Your feet are are the zoom. It is a great lens to learn on as it forces you to move around and not be lazy. In most cases.
This building is significant because according to Emporis, "The 36 Corinthian columns facing Washington Avenue form the longest colonnade in the United States." It's an impressive sight even without a natural lightshow.
